'070' EFI Pump

$70  -  New EFI Fuel Pump - VL Turbo '070' spec

EFI fuel pump manufactured to Bosch VL turbo specs, replaces Bosch part # 0 580 464 070, commonly referred to as "070" pump.

Capable of comfortably supporting 350hp in an EFI setup, or over 400hp in a blow-through carby setup.

Brand new sealed in box.  Comes with electrical connectors, rubber boots, nuts and washers.

The Bosch 070 is a Bosch Motorsport component.  It is an external pump that can provide enough fuel flow for up to 350hp (approx 260kW) in a typical EFI setup, or over 400hp (over 300kW) in a turbo blow through carby setup, as the system fuel pressure is lower.  We use these pumps in all our EFI and blow through carby kits and in our personal vehicles.

The 070 has the following specs:  130l/hour @ 3bar (44psi)

                                                    10mm (3/8") barbed inlet fitting

                                                    8mm (5/16") barbed outlet fitting

                                                    max. power consumption = 6.5A

                                                    pump diameter = 52mm

This pump a fantastic option for EFI conversions, particularly turbo conversions, and particularly carby turbo conversions, not only because of its high flow, but because it's one of the easiest pumps to hook up.  Its also ideal for pump upgrades on existing EFI vehicles, whether the vehicle is outputting 350hp or not, it doesn't matter, the vehicle fuel system will only use the fuel it requires.

For a blow through carby setup, you don't need a bigger pump, even for a monster, because the fuel system pressure is lower, and most pumps will flow more fuel at lower pressure outputs.  Therefore a bigger pump like an 044 will just be returning fuel to the tank all the time, heating it up, and costing power.

The great thing about the 070 is that you don't need special fittings or metric adaptors to connect the fuel lines, as the body of the pump has inbuilt barbed fittings for both inlet and outlet, so the fuel hose pushes straight on.  Other pumps like the Bosch 910 and 044 all require metric fittings to connect to a hose.  Good quality fittings are worth nearly half the price of the pump itself.

Genuine Bosch 070 pumps retail for $150-$200, so grab a bargain at less than half the cost of a Bosch unit.

Not to be confused with other Bosch external fuel pumps such as those found on naturally aspirated VL Commodores and other vehicles such as Holden Camira, Astra, Nissan Pulsar, etc, as these pumps are a lower spec unit and don't flow as much fuel.  The VL turbo 070 pump can be identified by the part number and by the electrical terminals, which use metric threaded posts.  The lower spec units use push on spade terminals for the electrical connections.

The photo below shows the fuel system I run in my Gemini.  I use twin stock Gemini electric pumps in the boot to feed the surge tank via the large fuel filter.  The surge tank then supplies the 070 VL turbo pump which sends fuel up to the engine bay.  This setup is supplying fuel for my engine combo which currently makes 241hp@wheels.  So there's plenty of scope when running a setup like this.  I definitely haven't maxed it out yet.

We believe it's critical, particularly on high hp applications, to make sure you have a decent filter BEFORE your EFI pump to make sure you don't get any debris from your fuel tank into your pump, as junk in the pump will reduce both its performance and service life.
